We look forward to meeting you on your first visit to our office. We understand that each patient's orthodontic treatment needs are different, and we strive to meet your individual needs and to provide the best care possible. After getting acquainted with our office, we will help you learn about how orthodontics can improve your dental health and create a more pleasing smile.

Your first orthodontic visit will include a thorough orthodontic examination. At this exam, we will determine-Is there a condition that orthodontics can address?

  • Is treatment needed now or should treatment be delayed until appropriate growth, tooth eruption or other factors have occurred?
  • What treatment procedures will be used to correct the problem?
  • Can the bite be corrected without tooth removal, or do any permanent teeth need to be removed to obtain a healthy result?
  • How long will treatment take?
  • How much will it cost?
  • What are my payment options?

If we determine that it is the proper time to begin orthodontic treatment, it is necessary to obtain diagnostic orthodontic records. These records include a digital scan of the teeth (3D models) and various diagnostic photographs and X-rays of the teeth and jaw structures. A thorough analysis of the diagnostic orthodontic records is necessary to confirm the diagnosis and to verify the patient's individual treatment plan. We know your time is valuable, so to expedite treatment, we reserve time to obtain these records following the initial exam.

After evaluating the patient's records and analyzing the orthodontic needs, Dr. Steinhoff will consult with you a second time to discuss his findings and answer any questions regarding the treatment to ensure your full understanding.

Please assist us by providing the following information at the time of your first visit:

  • Any panoramic X-ray taken within the past six months.
  • If you have orthodontic insurance, bring your insurance card. By providing this information at the first visit, we will be able to give you an estimate of your costs.
